American Legion Auxiliary Eligibility & Information

Thank you for your interest in joining Gold Star Unit 191, American Legion Auxiliary. The following may be helpful:

ELIGIBILITY:

You must be related to a veteran in one of the ways shown on the application form. The veteran must have served at least one day within the range shown on the application form. If your eligibility is "wife", you may be widowed, but not divorced.

If living, the veteran MUST be a current member of an American Legion Post (but not necessarily Mount Airy).

If deceased, you must furnish a copy of the death certificate or other documentation proving death AND a DD214 or other proof of service dates and honorable discharge of the veteran.

JOINING ON-LINE:

Please note: Members who join online can only be placed into their state’s “Headquarters Unit". Once you join online, you may transfer to a local unit of your choice. To transfer to our unit, please contact our membership chair: Diana Nugent at 301 502-0386.

DUES:

If a member is between the ages of birth and 18 years and unmarried, she qualifies as a Junior member. Dues are $8.00 per year.

All others are considered Senior members. Dues are $35.00 per year.

Prospective members must bring application/documentation/check to a Unit Meeting. We meet the second Monday of each month, except July. Meetings begin at 7:00 pm.
