American Legion Auxiliary Gold Star Unit 191 Scholarship Application

 Gold Star Unit 191, American Legion Auxiliary, Mount Airy, Maryland, shall award two (2) $1,500.00 General Scholarships each year, one (1) $1,500.00 Human Medical Science Field Scholarship, and (1) $1,500.00 Non-traditional Scholarship each year.

The scholarships shall be offered to young men and women who are currently seniors in high school, a college student who was the recipient of this scholarship the previous year, or a non-traditional student who are citizens of the United States residing in Maryland or who are currently a member of Gold Star Squadron or Unit 191 residing outside of Maryland; with preference given to veterans’ children. 

Once a scholarship is awarded, it may be renewed for an additional three (3) years. The renewing applicant must be a full-time college or trade school student at the school of his/her choice, have an average grade of “C” or better, and he/she must resubmit a completed application each year and it must be received by the due date. There is no implied guarantee of renewal. 

2026 Scholarship Applications will be available here and in the Guidance offices in local high schools in January 2026

Applications should be sent to the Gold Star Unit 191 Scholarship Chairman and must be postmarked on or before
April 1, 2026.
