The American Legion Gold Star Post 191 supports both the Boy Scouts and the Cub Scouts. These two great American institutions have seen boys from all walks of life and all social backgrounds. They learn how to take care of themselves and their communities through both the Boy Scouts and the Cub Scouts.

1191 News

By: Billy Roberson, Star Scout
Troop 1191 would like to thank the American Legion Post 191 for the generous donation of money that we used to buy multiple new tents. The tents work very well as we learned on the Klondike Derby in January. The Klondike Derby is a gathering that lets Girl Scouts, Venturing Crews, and Boy Scouts participate in a winter campout and group competition. Within the Klondike Derby the groups go through a series of skill stations and receive points based on the attitudes, eagerness, knowledge, and the helpfulness of the scouts. Whoever receives the most points wins the Klondike Derby. Although we did not win this year, our patrol had the second fastest time for pitching and taking down a tent! During the Klondike Derby, two-and-a-half inches of snow and ice fell, and none of the water from the snow seeped through the top or bottom of the new tents. The tents have and will help a lot.
Thank you.

We appreciate the invitation to serve by working at the Legions Friday dinners. It is fun to help out and we will continue to have scouts sign up for this service.

In March and April, the troop will be having its annual fundraiser, selling mulch by the bag. We would like to know if any of the members of the Legion or your families or friends would like to order mulch. Prices and delivery date are not set yet, but will be available soon. Please contact a member of the troop for more information.
